About Us
South Brighton SLSC is a family-friendly club where everyone is welcome regardless of whether you have a lifetime of experience on the water or are looking to dip your toe into surf for the very first time. Our club was formed in 1929 in response to a drowning accident, and to this day our core purpose remains to ensure the safety of all swimmers at our beach.
In addition to our Lifeguard Service, we offer a fun, confidence building Junior Surf Programme for 5-13 year olds, a Rookie Programme for 13 year olds and a competitive Surf Sports Programme for those 10 years and above.
We're passionate about our beach community
Giving back is at the heart of what we do - providing a safe place for locals and visitors to spend a day at the beach, while at the same time training the next generation of lifeguards and surf athletes. Our dedicated volunteer lifeguards devote hundreds of hours each summer to ensure the safety of the community while our Junior Surf Programme is developing tomorrow's lifeguards and opening up a whole new world of water safety and fun to children.
Our People
Like most surf life saving clubs, the majority of our committee members and key personnel are volunteers who give us countless hours to help keep the wheels turning.
